Classic Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 large eggs
- 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200g) sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup (120ml) milk
- 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
Guidelines:
Warm up the oven: Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). An 8-inch round cake pan can be lined with parchment paper or greased and floured.
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium-sized basin, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt using a whisk.
Cream Butter and Sugar: Using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter in a large basin until it becomes smooth. Add the sugar little by little while beating the mixture until it becomes fluffy and light.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each is thoroughly mixed in before adding the next. Add the cocoa powder and stir.
Mix the Wet and the Dry Ingredients: Alternately add the milk and the flour mixture to the butter mixture three times. To start and finish, add the flour mixture. Take care not to overmix; only combine until barely mixed.
Pour and Smooth: Using a spatula, pour the batter into the cake pan that has been prepared.
Bake: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean, in a preheated oven.
Cool: Before icing or serving, let the cake cool in the pan for ten minutes. Then, remove it from the pan and allow it cool fully on a wire rack.
Frost (Optional): After the cake has cooled fully, you can either enjoy it unfrosted or frosted with your preferred icing.
